HVAC Engineering Services for Ontario Building Permits
Every service we offer is produced by a BCIN-registered HVAC designer, delivered within 48 hours, and accepted by every Ontario municipality. Upload your floor plans for a free quote — no commitment required. Not sure what you need? Read our guide on permit rejection causes to understand exactly what's required before you order.
Not sure which service you need? The most common starting point is the CSA F280 Heat Loss Calculation — it's required for every Ontario building permit and forms the foundation for everything else. If you need a complete permit package, the Full HVAC Design Package covers everything in one submission. For a full breakdown of what each municipality requires, see our areas we serve page.
CSA F280 Heat Loss Calculation
The mandatory heating load calculation required by Ontario Building Code Section 9.33.2.2. Uses your actual floor plans, wall assemblies, and Ontario design temperatures to calculate heat loss room by room. The BCIN-stamped report your permit application cannot proceed without. Use our free design temperature tool to confirm your municipality's design day before ordering.
Full HVAC Design & Mechanical Drawings
The complete Ontario building permit package — heat loss calculations, full duct layout drawings, Mechanical Ventilation Design Summary, equipment schedule, and Ontario Schedule 1 designer declaration. Everything your building department needs in one stamped submission. See our HVAC design page for the full breakdown, and our rejection guide for what this package prevents.
Cold-Climate Heat Pump Sizing
Accurate heat pump sizing using certified CSA F280 load data — not square footage rules of thumb. Confirms cold-climate performance at -15°C and -25°C for Ontario's design temperatures. Produces rebate-qualifying documentation for Ontario's Home Renovation Savings Program (up to $7,500). See our cold-climate heat pump page for equipment certification requirements and our heat pump guide for zone-by-zone performance data.
HRV & ERV Ventilation Design
Mandatory under Ontario's updated Building Code since January 1, 2025. We calculate your home's Total Ventilation Capacity, select the right HRV or ERV, design the supply and exhaust distribution, and produce the MVDS form your permit application requires. OBC 2024 and CAN/CSA-F326 compliant. Missing the MVDS is one of the most common reasons applications are returned — see our rejection guide for the full list.
Radiant & Hydronic Heating Design
Complete hydronic radiant floor heating design built on a certified CSA F280 room-by-room heat loss calculation. Includes PEX loop layout drawn over your floor plans, loop lengths and spacing, manifold locations, zone mapping, supply water temperature targets, and boiler or heat pump sizing. CAN/CSA-B214 compliant. Particularly suited to ICF construction in Simcoe County and Georgian Bay — for why ICF homes pair so well with radiant, see the best heating systems for ICF homes and the real cost of hydronic radiant in Ontario.
